Yoga for Deep Rest is a slow, gentle and rejuvenating weekly practice to restore wellbeing and peace.
Together we will set and move with intention, and soothe the nervous system, with a combination of slow flow yoga and breathwork, restorative yoga poses, guided meditation practices and yoga nidra.
Restorative yoga is a very gentle yoga practice in which you can expect to hold poses for 5-15 minutes. The focus is on stillness, breath and relaxation, and will often include a guided meditation.
We use lots of props (blankets, pillows and bolsters) so you feel comfortable and supported to release tension in the body and mind, and encourage activation of the parasympathetic nervous system (our body’s healing “rest and digest” mode).
Yoga nidra is an effortless and deeply relaxing form of “yogic sleep”. It is a completely guided meditation technique to take you into deep states of rest and regeneration.
No prior yoga experience is necessary, just a sense of curiosity.
All welcome. Herbal tea will be offered at the end of each class.
Yoga for Deep Rest invites us to:
Embody slowness and rest deeply
Hold ourselves with intention
Balance the nervous system
Nourish our bodies and hearts
Connect with ourselves and others in community
“Treating each other and ourselves with care isn’t a luxury, but an absolute necessity if we’re going to thrive. Resting isn’t an afterthought, but a basic part of being human.” - Trisha Hersey, The Nap Ministry
Lauren Burke is a 250-hour Yoga Teacher with training from Holli Gipson at Sacred Seeds Yoga School and certification in Yoga for Trauma, Anxiety, Depression and Body Image from Sarah Ball. She sees yoga as a regenerative practice which connects us to our elemental, sensing bodies, and creates space to touch into who we truly are.
Lauren teaches gentle hatha yoga, restorative and yin and has been teaching since 2020 in nipaluna/Hobart. She also has a degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Metavision Institute, and is a holistic coach, psychotherapist, daughter, sister, girlfriend, runner, bushwalker and human being embracing the goodness, the mess, the uncertainty and the awe in this thing called life. She also loves to laugh and finds it very odd to write about herself in third person.
